Marina Bay Sands Buffet

Had a buffet at Marina Sands Bay Hotel for $70!! well, its supp to be more but we were "sponsored" about 10 to 20 dollars by Benjamin parents. Lol, its so nice to have a rich lau pa haha. anyways the food there was pretty normal. Everything there, from the layout of the place to the assortment of food looked very good, however when it came to the taste test, i will say it just merely passed. The raw oysters, though fresh, were puny, and most of the other food were pretty bland in taste. I did liked the fresh sashimi and the mango sago though =) Maybe the desert counter would have made up for it, however i did not get the chance to try the different assortments of cakes cos i was so damn full because Ben took so many jackfruits and i had to help him finish ><

Anyway, $70 is really too expensive for the quality of the food provided. I'm not saying that its bad, but i think there are better places that serve the same kind of food or better, but at a cheaper price *maybe 50 to 60 dollars?*

after that we went to the skypark *ben had a hotel key!*. oh btw we were at the buffet restaurant from 7 + to 10 30 lol. yea so it was quite late when we went up the sky park and the observation deck was closed, and so we just walked along the swimming pool area. nth much to see though. The view of the skyline wasnt as bright and spectacular as i tot it would be. Also, i was so damn full i could not walk properly haha.walked around for about an hour or so, then we went to chill out at the Singapore river there, enjoying the emptiness of the place, the cool breeze and soft jazz music playing from hidden speakers in the bushes. pretty romantic right?? hahaha

oh BTW as we were on the elevator going down from the skypark, i was toking showing ben and wei sian the pictures in the camera. An ang mo couple who was in the elevator with us ask me wad language i was speaking lol. Ben said English and then they seemed surprised haha. then i told them i was speaking Singlish lol. So pai seh la hahahaha. oh well...

Flea market at Haji lane

Benjamin and I tried to sell of our stuff at wenhui's stall at the flea mart on sunday. benjamin was selling second hand accessories and i, soft toys =) Actually we never do much, just guarding/patroling/running errands lol. anyway manage to sold off 2 of my soft toys, the scrump and the cinnamonon*well, the name is smt like that lol*, as well as a small dog soft toy. It was an eye opener and has inspired me once again to work on my next venture =))

Marriage in America

There was a 8 page article in the November copy of the Times magazine. it was toking about the relevance of marriage in America and it gave some interesting statistics.

In year 1960, 67% of those aged 20 - 30 were married; in 2008 just 26% were.

US college graduates are now far more likely to marry (64%) than those with no higher education (48%)

In year 1960, the median household income of married US adults was 12% higher than that of single adults, after adjusting household sizes. By 2008 this gap had grown to 41%.

The Divorce rates in 1978 was much higher than it is today. Divorce rates have sort of reached a plateau. this is because divorce rates among college graduates are declining while those at the lower end of the socioeconomic spectrum are rising. no stats given however.

Basically this means that in America, the richer and more educated one is, the more likely he or she is to get married, be married and stay married.

Or conversely, if one is married, he or she is more likely to be well off.

interesting no? lol

Repentance

First off, I would like to apologize to everyone whom i have insulted, consciously or unconsciously, directly or indirectly. I have been so caught up in my own self centeredness that i have failed to consider the feelings of many people. Many a time have i said insensitive things and pushed people to conform to my ideal, due to my misguided attempts to impose what i believe was the best for them. I have come to realize that it was selfish of me to do that, as everyone is different and unique in their own way. Each individual has the right to their own beliefs and values, and i do not possess the right to force my own values on them. Once again, i would like to say sorry to everyone whom i have cause unnecessary emotional stress, as well as humbly asking for forgiveness. Sorry.

Re: (all) hey it was just another misunderstanding

"I cannot remember when was the last time i started an argument with someone. Sure... there are times where ppl say things that offend me, but i always tell myself to question the person's intentions first. wad is the point of getting angry and snapping at the person, only to realise it is just a case of miscommunication or misunderstanding, and then having to apologize ... or not *because some ppl's ego are too fking big*. It is just stupid. a waste of time and energy." ~ earlier post~

deja vu? Wad has to be said has already been said.

Logic and emotion

The world used to be ruled by logic.

logic triumph all arguments

people talked, reason and questioned with no regards

"Convince me!" they shouted, "and i will do ur bidding."

The world lived in order; you were either right or wrong

Then emotion came,

and it challenged everything logic stood for

Emotion was erratic, unpredictable and uncontrollable

At times, it act as a formidable wall, in which no amount of logic would be able to penetrate.

At times it explodes with such force, overwhelming any form of logic.

It was an impossible battle,

no way could logic overcome the sheer intensity of emotion.

Emotion won

and so the current world came to be.

where one wins just because one is in a bad mood

where wars of cold silence are drawn long and harsh

where wars of emotional outbursts erupt abruptly and violently

There was no head or tail to every argument

as every tale began with the slightest provocation, and ended with no conclusion.

Logic had lost

and emotion now rules all arguments.

And that as they say, is that.

Demon gate

I am not 100% sure, but i seem to remember coming across the term "demon's gate" or smt like that as i was reading up on Fengshui sometime during my secondary school period. Basically it refers to a window, door, toilet sink or smt that brings u bad luck.

well, there is a demon gate in my room. I dunno if it has actually brought me bad luck and all * i mean this things are hard to quantify* However it has definitely brought me much stress and agony. The demon gate is the huge window in my room.

from 8 to 12, be it am or pm, countless evil spirits and what not come in and defile my room. From 8 am to 12 pm, the window faces the direct sun. I am not exaggerating when i say this, but it as though the sun god apollo is sitting right outside my window. if my blinds are opened, it is no different from sitting in an open field with no shade. oh wait actually i rather sit in a open field with no shade. y? cos my room has this amazing tendency to trap heat. the heat generated by by the light gets accumulated in my room and turns it into a giant oven. oh did i mention about the time my mother went to mop my room and lifted the blinds? i went in 30 minutes later and it felt like a god damn sauna.

ok so what about the evening? from 8pm to 12 pm? hohoho it gets better. In the evening, for reasons that i am unaware of, Insects flock into my room like a swarm of locusts. These spawn of Satan come in all shapes and sizes. Bees, wasps, flying ants, beetles.... Can u imgine how annoying it is? here i am minding my own business in my room and.... OMG THERE IS A GIANT WASP IN MY ROOM!!! Even if its not a bee or wasp, it is still very annoying to have flying insects flying around ur computer. And for some reason, the insects do not go to the other rooms but specifically home in into my room.

Convinced it is a demon gate?

so recently i have been taking steps to mitigate this problem, shifting my bed, leaving only 1 window open, closing blinds. i have been contemplating getting some mosquito netting but haven got around to doing it yet. Anyway, just the day before yesterday, i told myself that i  could not take the goddam morning sweating sessions anymore, and so after the sun had set, i took steps to rectify the problem.

Ta da! as u can see i have pasted newspapers and my accounting homework all over my window. well, except 1 cos i dun think i will open that window anyway. Now u may be thinking that it looks dam ugly. actually, i agree with that. but i will also rather sleep in a trash can if it is going to be more comfortable than my room.

Now the reason i did this is to filter out the laser beams being admitted from the morning sun, as well as to allow me to open the window for ventilation. U see, i could easily have just closed my blinds to stop the sun from getting in. However, my blinds are not permeable. so it sorts of traps even more heat in my room when i close it.

So today is the first day i am testing the newspaper plastered windows and wah la! it is working perfectly! well, except for the smell of newspapers lingering in my room.... but hey! it has made my room a much more hospitable environment to live i.

TAKE that demon gate!!! =)

life is not as easy as it seemed to be

Everybody has their own philosophy in life. i am no different. some ppl turn to religion.... well, i used to do that too until i realize that it doesn't matter wad/who u pray to. In the end, it is the person himself who decides how to treat the world and himself. religion provides a set of examples and rules to follow. sadly, most dun.

Anyway, I have always been fascinated by wise words and quotes, no matter where they come from; be it the bible, games, movies, smt i have read or perhaps just smt i created myself. Now for the past 21 years of my life, i have trying my best to live by this quote.

"do unto others what you wish to be done unto you"

Its smt i heard long ago so i dunno where did it come from *though i am sure one can easily Google it* Basically, what it means it that, However you wan to treat someone, always put urself in their shoes first. This has been the core principle in which i have live my life trying to adhere to when it comes to dealing with ppl, although not always successfully. Anyone who claims that i do not do so, is insulting me, because I do it all the time; even though there are occasionally times that i forget, in which i always do my best to make up for it.

of cos this is just a very fundamental explanation. And there are a few exceptions that i have allowed myself to make, which many ppl may not agree with me, such as "an eye for an eye". However, recently i have decided that it is not worth the time and energy.

Anyway, just as i have decided to stop holding grudges against ppl *actually i still hold grudges, but i am more willing to let it go* i have realized that i cannot live by the above mentioned quote anymore. I have realized that people do not care how YOU wan to be treated. They only care about how THEY wan to be treated. Just 2 semesters back, the econs teacher pointed out this problem. he said " the golden rule does not apply in the world of customer service. Instead, the rule should be changed to "do unto others what THEY wish done unto them!""

However, i feel that this not only applies to the world of business but to the world around us as well. If it were a perfect world, and everyone follows the same rule, then perhaps the golden rule will work. However, this is not the case as i see it. Most of the arguments and misunderstandings against me comes from my stoic  following of this rule. take the most recent case for example. I, being a friendly guy just says hello to a friend. BUT apparently, the friend, whom for whatever reason dosen't like to be said hello to, thus leading to an argument, or misunderstanding, whatever u wan to call it.

ok so assuming u argue that i did not know the friend does not like to be greeted. ok fine, and assuming now the friend tells me that he*i'm a sexist, i always use "he"* does not like being greeted or say talked to. so what do i do the next time i see him?

1) greet him? well that would probably lead to some kind of conflict again.

2) ignore him? well then it would be wierd right? and what kind of friendship would that be?

now this situation may seem ridiculous. so lets put in a more practical example.

ur good ol pal is knocking his head with a hammer. Now i am pretty sure most ppl would prob go "hey wtf are u doing brrooo? stop doing that its not cool!" or smt like that. Now then the guy starts arguing with u about y he likes hitting himself on the head with the hammer *stupid argument but i'm just trying to paint a scenario that you are so darn sure that if u were doing it, u would want someone to stop u*. He continues to tell u that he has been doing it for years, and nothing has happened to him to him so far, other than the occasional bleeding and waking up with a terrible headache. He claims that the pros outweigh the cons. the pros being well .... able to sleep better? and getting better results in school. i'm just saying.

so what are you going to do the next time u see him pulverizing his head?

1) continue asking him to stop.... and risk ruining ur frenship?

2) tell him he is doing a good job and to keep it up..... against ur own principles? *i am assuming that ur principles stop u from hitting urself on the head with a hammer*

Of cos there are other options but i'm trying to prove a point here. U see the dilemma? Oh i forgot to add that he mentions that all his friends are doing it too and in fact, doing it better!
U realize that PERHAPS to that fren, he may know that it is wrong, but circumstances are forcing him to do so. but to u, or me or whatever, the scenario just seems so obviously wrong.

SO wad is the best choice for this kind of scenario?

A reminder to myself, and everyone out there

He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
he who
rules his spirit than he who takes a city.
-Proverbs 16:32

The bible has good quotes I  must say.

Just to note though, being slow to anger is one thing, bottling up ur anger is another

It is actually much harder to fight an enemy within, then an enemy without.

In the end, he who masters his emotions, masters his life.

FRREEEEDDOOOOMMM!!!

freedom had never tasted so sweet.

U guys have no idea. Since last last week, i had practically been slaving over work projects and what not.

2 weeks ago i had to study for 6 long chapters of UGC (history) and there had also been some issue with my brother that scared the shyt out of me kept me awake for the next few nights.

After that, it was the planning of boon's 21st birthday party at st games, and preparing for 1 accounting presentation, 1 ugc presentation next week *which is this week* and my accounting midterms, which is on the same day as the ugc presentation *which is today* and now, ITS FINALLY ALL OVERR!!!!

seriously. now i feel so happy that i can just lie on my bed and just enjoy the feeling of happiness!!

Actually it had really been a tough 2 weeks for me, juggling the planning of the party, making of the "memorable gift", and dealing with schoolwork. A lot of things annoyed me alot; things that shld have been a hell lot easier if ppl had actually cooperated with me. I so so so so so so so very much wanted to rant it out somewhere, but then if i did so boon would probably fell bad so i didnt. so i was planning on doing it today, but then now i feel so happy that i just cant express my grievance properly lol

This kind of ecstasy comes only once in a blue moon. So i suppose i will leave those rants for later. why spoil the good mood? =D

ahhhhh it sure feels good to have nothing to do!
