Lies.
that were made by both\ me and people around me, in the past and in the present.
A lie may take care of the present, but it has no future. ~Author Unknown
this is just the way it is. one may think that he can deceive others with his words. yes, he may. but only if he is never going to see the other person again. In the short run, a lie may save u, it may even empower you. but in the end, ur own actions will expose ur own lies.
And worse still, is to attempt to deceive ur friends. Do you really think its possible? when my friends do that, i really wonder if they are in fact, trying to deceive themselves. maybe not. maybe they are. AND people may hate me for doing it, but i MUST point it out to them. For to me, there is probably nothing more tragic than attempting to deceive urself.
we shld never attempt to deceive our friends. They WILL see through the lies. and all one does is to make himself seem dishonest. but since they are 'friends' they will silently accept u for who u are. A dishonest person.
really? u may ask. but i only tell white lies. Here is smt to consider
Those who think it is permissible to tell white lies soon grow color-blind. ~Austin O'Malley
A white lie is a lie nonetheless. the best part is that this is the kind of lie that we usually tell ppl who are close to us. And these are the ppl who will likely uncover our lies. Will they be grateful? well, would u be grateful if u were the other person?
In the end, it just boils down to how white is the lie? think back to the reason about y the white lie was made in the first place. was it because u were worried that the truth would hurt the other person? or was it because u were afraid of the person hating u for the truth *aka u being hurt*. just smt to think about before we justify ourselves making a white lie.
A lie, white or black, is a lie nonetheless. It may be useful to get one out of a sticky situation. but a short term solution is never useful when used in the long run. when i say this, i mean that one shld not CONTINUE to deceive that person or themselves about things that are untrue. we shld always keep these lies to a bare minimum. In economics, there is smt called the principle of the second best. there are times where lies may be told to keep someone from getting hurt. But we should neither attempt to nor is it even possible to deceive them forever. In short, its not feasible to completely stop lying, but it shld always be kept to the bare minimum.
And to end off this reflection, here is a interesting quote to ponder over.
We tell lies when we are afraid... afraid of what we don't know, afraid of what others will think, afraid of what will be found out about us. But every time we tell a lie, the thing that we fear grows stronger. ~Tad Williams
