sore throat and a drowsy mind

dam it i have a sore throat. will try to have a early night today.

today met lifang, pek ha and xue min today. Saw li fang first at 11 plus at my bus stop but could not recognize her haha stared at her for a while. anyway she told me that she, pek ha and xue min were finish sch at 6 30 so i decided to meet them since my sch ends around the same time.

told them about my life so far. then they ask me if im still upset. tot about it for a while. nothing stirred in my heart. its wierd. so i just said i had been emoing RECENTLY.


does that mean im finally over you?


anyway my econs teacher said smt very interesting. something about sunk cost. not sure if the term is corrct though.

Ever had a situation where you have been doing something for so long with no results, yet you still hang on because you have already spend so much time on it? example. you have been queing for a freebie on some opening day. you have already been queing for 1 hour, yet the q does not seem to be moving. however u convince yourself that since u have already waited so long, if you give up now you would have wasted that 1 hour. AND so you continue to wait.

well what the econs teacher said is that the hour which u have already wasted is called a sunk cost. something that u can never get back in any form. thus it does not actually justify you waiting another hour or so for the gift. the decision to waste another hour or so of your life based on the idea that u have waited 1 hour already does not make economic sense. You shld make a decision based on the present time not on wad you have already done.

Another example he gave would be that of a buffet. you paid the money already and so feel the need to eat till bloated. the money paid is a sunk cost. no matter how much u eat u will never get the money back.

another example would be that of a stock trader who dosen wan to sell his stocks despite the fact that the price has been falling steadily. reason? i have already waited so long for the price to go back up, no harm waiting longer.

i guess basically he means that do not carry on your mistakes when u realize you have made a mistake. your first mistake is no reason to make another 1.

anyway today's lunch was kinda awkward. lucky there were many ppl around. i dun wan to see you... at least for now... dun think u wan to see me either haha.
